Dr. Stephen Posner
Coach Posner, one of the premiere coaches in college gymnastics, enters his 25th season as head coach at Springfield College. In 2007, Coach Posner earned the coveted Collegiate Gymnastics Association "Honor Coach Award" for his 25 years of meritorious service to college gymnastics. Posner has coached 123 All-Americans and 17 national champions, and led Springfield College to three straight USA Gymnastics Collegiate crowns from 1990 to 1993. He was selected both the USA Gymnastics and National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Caches (NACGC) Division II-III Coach of the Year in 1992 and 1993, and earned NACGC Eastern Regions Coach of the Year honors in 2002. He has served as chair of the USAG Championshir> Committee, and is a current member of the NCAA rules committee. Posner also serVed as the Gymnastics Chair for the World Maccabiah Games in Israel in 1997.

Posner competed at the University of California and earned All-American honors in floor exercise in 1974. The following year, he helped lead the Golden Bears to the NCAA Division I Championship. He was a member of the USA Elite National Team from 1973 to 1975 and won gold medals in the floor exercise and the all-around at the 1973 World Maccabiah Games. Posner, an associate professor of sport management, joined the Springfield College staff in 1982 after coaching at SUNY Cortland for two years. He also served as an assistant coach at Syracuse University from 1979-1980. Posner earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Cal-Berkeley, his masters degree in physical education from Syracuse, and his Ph.D. in Sport, Leisure and Exercise Science from the University of Connecticut at Storrs. He currently lives in Springfield Massachusetts with his wife Maureen and they have three children.
